Malis Dental Clinic in Phnom Penh was established in November 2012 by Japanese Dentist Motomi Minemura, a graduate of Hokkaido Dental University in Japan. After practicing as a dentist in Japan, Vietnam and Cambodia, Dr. Minemura opened a practice on the 13th Floor of Phnom Penh Tower, one of the most modern buildings in the capital of Cambodia, centrally located on Monivong Boulevard.

Since inception the aim of the dental clinic has been to provide high-class, international standard dental care in Cambodia. The interior of the dental clinic is designed to the highest international standards and all equipment and specialist supplies are imported from Japan, the USA and Germany.

The clinic’s name Malis and the associated logo were a creation of Dr. Minemura’s, as Malis is the Khmer word for Jasmine and it reflects her passion for the country and the people who live here. Malis Dental Clinic Phnom Penh provides all necessary dental treatments from cosmetic tooth whitening to dental implants and caters to patients of all ages. To ensure the dental clinic’s high standards, all related services are prepared by Japanese technicians.

While the level of dental care and awareness is relatively high in Phnom Penh, there are still gaps in the healthcare system in the Cambodian countryside. The majority of the population living outside of Phnom Penh cannot afford, or do not have access to high standard dental health care.

Malis Dental Clinic Phnom Penh is aware of such issues and has been actively involved in charity work over the past two years. The Clinic is not only a cooperative Dental Clinic for the Korean Overseas Cooperation Agency (KOICA), but the clinic also gives back to the poor through KOICA. On several occasions Malis Dental Clinic has supported KOICA on its missions in the countryside with a dental team providing examinations for local villagers as well as teaching villagers about good dental care and dental hygiene.

Dr. Motomi
Dr. Motomi graduated from Hokkaido Dental University, Japan. 
After working as a general dentist in Hokkaido, Japan, Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam. Dr. Motomi opened Malis Dental Clinic in Phnom Penh in 2012.

Dr. Evelien Hoedemaker, MSc. Dentistry (Rijksuniversiteit, Groningen), She is trained in the Netherlands, after practicing as an independent dentist for almost 3 years decide to bring her expertise to Cambodia.

Wisdom teeth that are not growing properly are troublesome. It can loosen the neatly aligned front teeth, and lead to tooth decay or periodontal disease. At our dental clinic, we use Japanese medicine after tooth extraction to prevent pain and infection. It's no longer necessary to return to Japan when enduring the pain of a wisdom tooth.

It is a method to create a new tooth that has given no discomfort and does not need to cut nearby healthy teeth. We achieve this by implanting artificial tooth roots into the part where original teeth are missing. Up to now, when the old teeth were lost, it was common to attach a fixed bridge or attach with removable dentures. However, it was necessary to cut the nearby healthy teeth to attach the bridge, and dentures gave you an uncomfortable feeling when wearing them. So, either method had both advantages and disadvantages. At our dental clinic, we use both Straumann, which is one of the top systems in the world and Asian Osutemu, which is No.1 system in Asia.

Can you show your smile with confidence when having some teeth missing, gums blackened, or yellow teeth caused by drinking coffee? A beautiful smile can be achieved by whitening or putting new teeth. At our dental clinic, we use a whitening system that has been chosen as the top whitening system in the United States in 2011. We use an LED light, which is different from conventional ultraviolet rays, therefore it's safe for body. We fill with whitening gel, followed by three cycles of irradiation every 10 minutes and it's done.
